Our Work
ONAC supports tribes, Native-led nonprofits, and others interested in establishing asset-building initiatives and programs. ONAC also acts as a direct service provider and administers various asset- building programs that benefit Native families and others in the U.S.
ONAC STRATEGIES
- Secure partners and gather resources (samples, models, and funding options)
- Share exciting asset-building innovations
- Create peer-learning opportunities
- Evaluate and document asset-building programs
- As an intermediary funder, provide funding to tribes, Native-led nonprofits, and other nonprofits to support their efforts to administer asset-building programs
- Administer national networks for Bank On ONAC and the national EITC/VITA Network to lift up the needs of Native Volunteer Income Tax Assistance programs and others and the need for safe and affordable bank accounts for tribal citizens and others
- Directly administer asset-building programs such as financial coaching and down payment assistance; provide seed funding of Children's Savings Accounts, incentivized Bank On accounts, and family emergency savings accounts; offer emergency cash assistance during the pandemic; and provide outreach to families about claiming tax credits
- Provide nationally-available resource guides (such as a national resource guide for women entrepreneurs) and asset-building research (such as lessons learned from emergency cash distribution during a pandemic)
